The Environmental Protection Agency has updated its standards for new construction projects, with the new guidelines being introduced after the Paris climate change conference and a number of other climate change related incidents.
A number of companies have breached the guidelines, with many of the breaches being in China, according to the EPA.
In addition, some of the incidents were deemed “high-priority,” meaning they have been assigned to the agency’s high priority team.
The guidelines are expected to be rolled out next week and are designed to help companies better identify issues and identify ways to prevent future incidents.
The EPA has also released a new training video on the use of a smartphone camera to help businesses identify potential environmental risks.
The company responsible for developing the new regulations will have until February to respond.

The agency says the guidelines are meant to prevent the same incidents from happening again.
“We are taking steps to ensure that this doesn’t happen again, so we have been making changes to this guidance to ensure the agency can better protect the environment,” said EPA spokesperson Kate Hyslop.
“This is part of the process of making sure the agency is more responsive to our stakeholders and our customers.”
Hyssler said the guidelines were released last week.
She said they have not been formally endorsed by the EPA but will be considered by other agencies when they are issued in the future.
In an emailed statement, the EPA said the agency has not been contacted by The Globe and Mail about the revised guidelines.
“The agency is reviewing the guidelines and will make an appropriate comment if it becomes necessary to do so,” Hysslop said.
“EPA has made it clear that the EPA will not condone or encourage breaches of its environmental protection standards.”
Hymelop said that the new guidance includes new guidelines for the use and storage of batteries and solar panels and is designed to make sure the companies who have broken the guidelines can be held accountable.
“It’s a lot of work, but I think it’s good to see that this has come about,” Hymels said.
The regulations are expected be adopted in March, with a new rule to come into effect next year.
“Companies who do not comply will face penalties,” said Hyshler.
“That is why it is important for these companies to comply.
We are going to have to be more vigilant to make this happen and make sure these violations do not happen again.”
