FIFA has announced that it will ban the use of face coverings during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The announcement comes just days after FIFA chief Jerome Valcke said that the World Cup will be held in 2018, and that the use, in general, of masks is not a good idea.
Valckel has previously said that “we don’t need masks in Russia”.
“We want to make sure that the people who are participating in the 2018 tournament, and they are not just Russian citizens, but we want to protect their safety and well-being,” he said.
“And if they are exposed to the environment, then we want them to be protected from the environment.”
